Today marked the first day of the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines. The field includes last year’s winner Bubba Watson, Phil Mickelson and up-and-comer Rickie Fowler, to name a few. To follow the action live online, click here

Early leaders who have finished their first round include Spencer Levin, who shot a 10-under and Kyle Stanley, who also shot a 10-under. They both were on the North Course, the easier of the two course at Torrey Pines. Levin shot a 29 on the back 9.

Rickie Folwer tees off Thursday morning at Torrey Pine Golf Course during the Farmers Insurance Open.

“I don’t know if I ever have on Tour,” Levin said about shooting a 29. “Maybe a couple times messing around at home or something.”

As for Stanley, he shot a nearly impressive 30 on the back of the North Course.

“I didn’t play very well last week,” Stanley said, “but I spent Monday up at Titleist (in Carlsbad) and figured out a few things and started hitting it really well.

There were just a lot of birdie opportunities out there, so I knew there was a good score. Maybe not 10, but I’ll take it.”

Also producing a great round was Josh Teater, whose 8-under was his lowest round on Tour.

“The weather was great. Obviously being on the North Course,  I think it’s supposed to be good everyday so maybe it’s not that huge of an advantage to have it today,” Teater said.
